Understanding Senior Living
Independent living is a type of senior housing designed for older adults who are active and self-sufficient but want to enjoy a maintenance-free lifestyle. It removes the burden of homeownership — yard work, repairs, utility management — so you can focus on the things you enjoy, all within a social community setting.
Independent living is for seniors who can manage daily activities on their own but want the convenience and social benefits of community living. Assisted living adds support with things like laundry service, light housekeeping, nutritious meals, and scheduled transportation to medical appointments — helping you maintain your active, social lifestyle with a little extra help.
Independent living may be a good fit if you're finding that home maintenance, cooking, or social isolation are becoming more of a challenge — even though you're still healthy and active. Many people choose independent living not because they need help, but because they want a more connected, worry-free lifestyle. The best way to find out is to tour a community and see what daily life looks like.
A continuum of care means a community offers multiple levels of service — such as independent living, assisted living, and skilled nursing — on one campus. This is important because if your health needs change over time, you don't have to leave your community, your friends, or your familiar surroundings. It also gives families peace of mind knowing that higher levels of care are available nearby if needed.
Pay attention to the cleanliness of the campus, the friendliness of the staff, and the overall atmosphere. Ask about available floor plans, what's included in the monthly cost, what activities are offered, and what happens if care needs change. Try to talk with current residents if possible. Most importantly, trust your instincts — you should feel welcomed and comfortable.
Our Campus & Amenities
Our green, 16-acre campus has a social center for dining, a library, a village store, beauty shop, woodshop, and a separate building with an indoor pool and Jacuzzi. A wellness center and daily exercise programs are available, too. Visit our Amenities page for full details.
Our campus includes independent living, a 24-unit assisted living center, and an 86-bed healthcare center — all on one 16-acre campus. This means residents can transition between levels of care as their needs change, without leaving the community they call home.
